Jakarta - The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), which represents KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, considers the sentences of 1.5 to 3 years in prison handed down to the four soldiers accused of the acid attack to be unfair. TAUD believes the sentences are disproportionate to the defendants’ actions.
“But what we see is a complete lack of accountability regarding this case; there has been no revelation of the truth regarding this case, let alone any talk of justice—that certainly does not exist and is not evident in the general judicial process conducted by the Jakarta Military Court II-08, as reflected and demonstrated by today’s ruling, which merely punishes the perpetrators with such a lenient sentence that is not commensurate with what they did,” said TAUD representative Jane Rosalina during a press conference at the ICW office in Kalibata, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (June 10, 2026).
