Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies exits series as BBC scraps Christmas special
7d 5h ago by lemmy.world/u/RegularJoe in doctorwho from ew.comCrazy that he was back in it, given that walked away way back in '05-'10 to pursue a Hollywood career. Shame, too, because "The End of Time" was a solid capstone to a rebirth of the franchise. His return (along with the return of Tenant and Piper) just felt like he was running the Greatest Hits. Nice to see Ncuti Gatwa get a hand on the batton, but distressing to see he had the fewest episodes outside Eccleston.
Just feels like the BBC is giving up on the show like it's given up on so much else.
The other post just says no Christmas special. This article reaffirms this, plus stated RTD is out.
Time to back a truck of money up to David Tenant’s house and retcon the ending of his last special.
It's david tennant, he'd do it for a fiver
On the plus side we got Tip Toe from him.
Figured as much when it was announced they still had not done casting...
RTD went full JNT
So presumptuous
