Bananas could vanish from US school lunch menus

6d 4h ago by lemmy.zip/u/Valuy in news from www.theguardian.com

Never thought I'd see the day an American would be threatened by a banana

Sometime in the future

Man, and after all that work we put in destroying those countries’ governments so we could grow those bananas…

If you love doing it then its not work

Heaven forbid common children could get healthy food! How dare they giving kids HFCS free bananas!

I'm guessing you've never actually worked in a school? They throw all that shit away. They eat the pizza nuggets, whatever, then toss the vegetables and topically the fruit. We have this thing called the "share table" at my school where you can leave things if other kids are still hungry, it's basically full of fruit and crap no one likes.

But yeah, that while nachelle Obama lunch thing is great on paper, but compete shit in practice. Also it's bogus AF they give the same lunch portions to 40lb kindergartners as 6' 200lb 6th graders.

That seems to be an American problem again. Your kids are so used to industrial food, it's horrifying.

This is so much worse than the headline even hints at.

“But now, school districts are saying, ‘I can’t get you bananas because they’re not American.’”

SMH

Obviously the solution is to invade Panama and make it a US territory

Just grow them in Puerto Rico. But they don't know that it’s part of the US.

Invade Puerto Rico. Got it.

I wouldn’t put it past them.

That's cool I'm not letting this administration give my kid anything anyway

TL;D(idn’t)W(atch)?

What're the coles notes? I'm old, I prefer reading vs watching, especially on YouTube

Clip from Donkey Kong Country where DK and Diddy go back into the cave where DK's Banana Hoard usually is stashed, but it's gone because the Kremlings took the bananas. DK shakes his head sadly as the game over music plays.
