His expression in that thumbnail says: "oh shit, what has my life become?!"

Also he's 36 probably?

Going on 80

pregnant wife, nothing to see here

Yeah bro, he's from the party of family values and is putting his own career on the back burner tonstay home and support his pregnant wife...

Not those kind of family values.

That is not usually a reason for Republican staffers to leave their jobs though.

Maybe he’s not the father and it’s going to be obvious.

Or this was his only way to get out, like threats if he tried to quit.

Also yup sounds about right that you have to quit your job in the USA for babies because we don't get leave.

The Trump Administration has always been playing music chairs. The secretary of state job in Trump’s first term was filled first by Rex Tillerson, then by Mike Pompeo. Reason? T Rex was smart and capable yet he couldn’t stand Trump’s ridiculous thinking of managing business partners and allies. That is the same reason for Mad Dog Mattis’ short tenure as Secretary of Defense. A experienced and respected military man would follow protocol and not put up with Trump’s illegal manoeuvres to get things done
