US Army Writes Off $1.8 Billion in IVAS Headsets Due to Defects

Even with the war crimes and other issues aside, the DOD has to be the most wasteful and financially corrupt entity in the federal government

1.8 billion divided by 10 000 units = 180 000 dollars each

They're bonking mad.

Side note: I built a set of FPV glasses for approximately 150 euros last summer. Sure, they don't have integrated communications or night vision, but they still work, even if they aren't perfect, and only cost a thousand times less.

But where will Microsoft get their money then!? /s

There should be an investigation. Problems with the device should have been caught during prototype testing.

They were probably caught and swept under the rug with bribes

These outlandish costs are just hiding what the money was actually spent on.

Like those $400 coffee cups at the pentagon. Common. They didn't spend that on a single coffee cup. They spent that money on something else.

Is this the "military grade reliability" I keep hearing about?
