Messed up an old kindle

I got and old kindle 8th gen (SY69JL) for free, 'cause it couldn't connect with any wireless network. I tried to do the bridge for popcorn hack as seen here (https://kindlemodding.org/jailbreaking/Legacy/Popcorn/KT3.html). Stupid as I'm, I used the 60w solder and I thing I ripped one of the pads. The damn thing doesn't turn up (not even the led) or shows at lsusb. Is this now just an e-waste? It gets a little warm when puggled on the usb.
You can scrape / scratch the board and make a new pad near the old one.
You mean like, "dremel" near it and find the trace?
You can use a scribe, flat head, or a dremel. Just do enough to see the copper layer. Then add a solder ball to it. After that you can solder your wire to it.
thanks. gonna try it!
Given how your first mod went, I'm going to suggest you use something decidedly less aggressive than a dremel. Leave the power tools on the bench for this one. A simple hobby knife or sanding stick will get you there just fine.
yeap, a little to rough there :)
I can highly recommend surgical scalpels to work on PCBs. It also sounds like the shorting of the two pads only has to happen once to flash the firmware, so maybe you could use one of those cheap needle probes to temporarily get contact with the via under the ripped off pad.

Neat!
looks to me like you connected some pads right under the pad you ripped off. Maybe you shorted a power rail there?
Yeap, I just noted that. Trying to clean up my mess.
