Anyone know of good custom firmware that can be flashed onto a 50" Roku tv? I had one given to me last year and I sure as hell am not giving that thing net access, especially now.
I've never really used it yet except to plug it in once to make sure it works, but I was thinking of setting it up as a secondary "game room" tv so it doesn't really need internet anyway, but I'd like to leave no trace of anything roku on it if at all possible.
I second this request
Roku sucks so...OK? Is this just consolidation?
I'm just over here wishing NVidia would relaunch the Shield. FFS even a *Shield TV" would be worth something
Well, they certainly now have a new market to justify a relaunch. If they are reading this news they HAVE to know the market has opened up for them.
I have been a die hard Roku user (stb only, never full tvs though!!!) since they were first released. I'm not throwing them all out tomorrow, but I will be watching VERY closely and won't hesitate to convert all 3 in the house to something else. Another reason why I never bought roku tvs, I like my tv dumb for just this reason.
Unfortunately, NVIDIA is making an obscene amount of money from the AI boom. The market for the shield is just a drop of water in the ocean to them
Yeah that's fair. no point i guess for now. ROI is too low. Then again, never hurts to hedge a bet on the AI bubble. [sigh]
Zidoo or Ugoos
It's a dumb complaint but the UI is dated and the DV support matrix is always a can of worms.
