Several Xbox studios, including Compulsion, Ninja Theory and Double Fine, are negotiating with Xbox as they try to avoid closure. Some or all could spin off.

If they close Double Fine I’ll… well, I won’t be surprised, but I’ll be sad.

Me too. They don't put out a ton of games, but what they do make is really fun (I haven't tried Kiln yet but it looks fun, same with Keeper/the lighthouse one).

Both Psychonauts games are absolute masterpieces and deserve to be preserved for future generations.

Sad I’ll never get a psychonauts 3 but can’t say I’m surprised. They cleared don’t make enough money to continue to be San Francisco paid devs. They have a large catalog that move people have never heard of or played.

Didn't they just buy all those studios? Is anyone in upper management listing losing job over such gross incompetence?

Well yeah, sort of. Phil Spencer got replaced.

It’s a sinking ship because they don’t want to do the right thing to build trust with the consumer. It’s just over and over they do something good and then they jam the price of ultimate up and ruins the good will of all the good things they do.

Short term stock market quarterly brain rot.

Considering the average time for game development nowadays, these studios barely had time under the Microsoft umbrella. It's just ridiculous they're getting shut down already.

These studios have all released at least one game under Microsoft and those games just didn't perform.

I love double fine, but let's be realistic, Kiln and Keeper... Just weren't that great. I wanted to love keeper, but it was a very shallow game in the end.

Game Development is brutal, most studios out there can't afford a single miss or they are done.

I hope Microsoft does the right thing and lets those studios go independent again. I want a scrappy double fine again.

Should have just gone the route of abandoning the hardware business and being a video game software company. Spin off from Microsoft

They gotta be good at making games for that to work... They collected top AAA studios like infinity stones but can't figure out how to put them together.

For really. Imagine owning Blizzard and Bethesda and putting out what like 2 new non-COD games? Isn't it just Diablo 4 and Starfield?

I hardly even count those, both were in development way before MS scooped up the studios. Looking back most games they've released were either previously announced by the studio, or at least deep in development.

Indiana Jones, HiFi Rush and Avowed come to mind as games likely developed under MS by acquired studios, but not too much else. It's a shame to see.

Played Sega gt 2002 on my (real) XBOX the other day. So fun.

I think its best to ignore they ever made anything else.

Xbox is a sinking ship, as foretold by Satya Nadella.
