If there are snake skin boots, why would these be weird?
There's usually the whole tanning process before it's made into shoes. This one looks like it skipped that step, or took a big detour.

These are actually pretty common in western wear stores. Here in Texas, I wouldn't even think twice about seeing these. Snakeskin boots are way more common. But alligator boots are a thing among a certain flamboyantly masculine subset of wannabe cowboys.
