Also carrots are harvested by machines, not people. So it makes sense that it is an incredibly low price.
Still requires large amounts of fertiliser, diesel, water, and labour over the growth cycle.
Large amounts over the entire field, but very little per carrot.
The article says that 7p carrots would be a loss leader or perhaps a temporary deal.

It's about their phrasing, ad presence etc.

If it results in better conditions for farmers, and gets them on board with the Greens, I'm down with that.
I like the sound of that. Greens and people in the agriculture sector should be natural allies, I'm just used to nothing but disappointment from anyone of an agrarian bent. But it needn't be so.
