Bran flakes could be classed as junk food under new healthy eating guidelines

As someone that once used to eat Bran Flakes religiously and now doesn't touch cereal at all, I think it's important to note that these things aren't food, they're desserts and shouldn't be in most kitchens. There are far better ways to fill your stomachs and hit your macros than cereal.
Desserts are still food, otherwise agreed
well, something we already knew has now been officially confirmed
Added sugar vs natural sugar is a distinction without a difference, and the fact that it has been made so far seems silly to me.
Added sugars provide no nutritional benefit, but are a source of excess calories that can lead to overweight and increased disease risk.[2][3][61][62]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar#Health_effects
Natural sugars tend to be mixed with fibres, starches, and vitamins. These slow the process of digestion, reducing a glucose spike within the bloodstream, and providing other nutrients beyond just raw calories.
Added sugars provide none of these benefits.
Ok, I didn't know that there was this effect. I'll admit I don't know much about health and nutrition.
That said, shouldn't we consider all sugar content when evaluating how healthy an item is?
After all, you can take orange juice and ultra process out all the healthier stuff, leaving only the sugars. Those won't be "added" but they won't be any good for you, providing a marketing loophole of "no added sugars" for companies.
Sugar should be classified as a toxin. Sugar in typical diets increase risk of dementia due to metabolic effects in the brain.
But the brain on glucose goes brrrrrr.
What do you mean a gallon of honey is unhealthy? Its all natural sugars!
If you manage to ingest and keep down an entire gallon of pure, raw, bee juice, without your body violently and explosively purge it in a very biological way to preserve your existence, I congratulate you.
This is why I convert all my honey into alcohol. Big brain move. Alcohol kills germs. I’m sanitizing my insides
A fellow mead enjoyer I see.
