The executive branch needs to be restructured. Too much power is concentrated there.
The real problem is that Congress and the Supreme Court are comprised of majorities of the same political party, and that party lets the executive branch do whatever it wants. The rules are already there — they just aren’t being enforced.
Unitary executive theory has been being practiced and pushed to overstep presidential powers since the Reagan administration. The checks and balances aren’t sufficient. It’s not just the right wing take over - it’s the whole structure is antiquated and too vulnerable to this type of manipulation.
