The 14-point U.S.-Iran pact as read by U.S. official
3h 50m ago by sh.itjust.works/u/Zapados in world@quokk.au from www.reuters.comEssentially unconditional surrender by the United States.
We lost another war, folks.
To be clear, we haven't won one since 1945.
Silver lining: at least we lost this unnecessary war wayyyyy faster than we lost Vietnam.
No no no, you see this Iran War wasn't a war. Neither was Vietnam.
Congressional inaction means that US "war" success remains unchanged. /s
I'm not even sure the current administration could define what winning in Iran even means, that is how big of a fuck up this is.
People aren't talking about the Epstein Files, so it's a win for Trump.
The United States of America undertakes with regional partners to develop a definitive, mutually agreed plan with at least USD 300 billion for the reconstruction and economic development of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The mechanism for the implementation of this plan will be finalized as part of final deal within 60 days. All required licenses, waivers, and permissions needed for the relevant financial transactions will be granted by the United States of America.
Note that this suggests that VP Vance's recent claims of effectively "the gulf states will pay for it" is NOT in the language here. From my reading, if that amount cannot be brokered with those countries, the US still ends up holding the bill, since there is a 60-day deadline and failing to broker it would violate the terms of the peace agreement.
I'm not seeing how there isn't a significant chance that the US taxpayer directly funds this line item. In fact, the point of having Vance make such comments is probably to assuage at least their own base, so they aren't paying attention in 60 days when the money has to come from somewhere.
Would Iran be interested in a shitty, hideous, gold ballroom in DC? Maybe a Qatari 747 that's probably 1/2 blinged out by now?
It continues to get me that Americans are perfectly fine with doing over $300B in infrastructure demolition to the Islamic Republic of Iran, but go into hysterics when they get handed the bill for damage done.
There are a lot of Americans that were fine with attacking Iran. However, we could not get them to vote because of their purity test for "liberal" canididates. Edit------ Not fine. My mistake.
My favorite part is their childlike refusal to accept that their purity test resulted in a felon rapist pedophile controlling their lives and a free-for-all wholesale slaughter of the people they were conducting a purity test for.
DIP. SHITS.
Yeah this country is full of dipshits.
Yep, and we'll do it again. The only way to appease us is to push actually progressive, non-genocidal candidates. Good luck.
we could not get them to vote
The 2020 COVID crisis gave us some of the most lax voting laws in the country's history, for a brief and magical window of time. Consequently, voting - particularly mail-in voting - surged nationwide and the nation experienced the biggest turnout in proportion to population to date. Democrats won in a landslide.
Over the next two years, nearly every single state in the country clawed back voting rights and slammed down novel new restrictions. This was under a Democratic Majority and Presidency, with windfalls of state legislatures and gubernatorial wins across the country. Democrats got absolutely shellacked as a result.
2022 midterm turnout plunged under the 2018 level. 2024 Presidential turnout saw liberals - particularly those "purity test" liberals - turned away from the voting booth in droves, by a combination of malicious conservative vote caging / registration purging and liberal administrative apathy. Much like with the reactionary campaign against GOTV groups like ACORN in 2008 and the lawfare conducted by anti-enfranchisement litigators in 2013 and onward, taking anti-VRA cases to the SCOTUS time and time again, the damage was done to turnout before the election began.
Probably didn't help that ruling liberals annulled the possibility of a primary before dumping Harris into the top of the ticket over the objection of the sitting President, too. You'd think they would have known better. But I guess it's just easier to fuck up and blame Palestinian and Transgender voters for your catastrophic defeat, when your Senate and Gubernatorial candidates are outrunning your Presidential nominee by a winning margin of votes.
This is like the man who tells everyone he fought off three men who were troubling a woman when actually he got mugged.
