Reality: This is, I think, a Sherman Mine Clearing tank, which were used in WWII. Flails (the heavy chains) are still a relatively popular form of mine clearing.

Rocket flail chain minesweeping? Disastrous humanitarian landmine considerations aside, that sounds cool as hell.
