US judge orders names of more than 170 Jeffrey Epstein associates to be released

Sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died in jail in 2019, was known to associate with powerful figures. Now a list of 170 associates of Epstein will be made public after being sealed by the court in previous trials.
Anyone on the list has until 1 January to appeal to have their name removed.
wtf why should anyone have the right to “retroactively disassociate” from their past with epstein
I mean, the GDPR exists, and generally I think that's a good idea. I don't know how I can consolidate these conflicting beliefs though; other than maybe due to 1 being an investigation - the right to privacy shouldn't exist due to the greater obligation to serve justice.

Come on now. Clearly John Smith #23 is an entirely different person than John Smith #103.
