I'm from the US and also prefer businesses that don't use US tech. It's much easier to avoid now that I'm in Sweden, slowly shifting things to more local solutions

I love my hometown it's like Hobbiton, it's pretty, people are mostly very kind, it's a place to go to live a calm life. But it is in Idaho, and is entering into the last stages of a christofascist takeover decades in the making.

It sounds like you'd have to wind it back more, 30 years only puts us in the 90s and the stuff you're talking about sounds like even the 80s would have at a minimum raised eyebrows by the inspectors

One of my tech jobs we'd use this aura strategically. Any time we couldn't get something to work for long enough it was becoming a problem, we'd go to someone higher rank than us. Didn't even have to tell each other what was wrong just "hey I need you to look at something", they'd walk in, usually it would start working, everyone nods, they go back to what they were doing. If people didn't nod then the higher up would actually sit down and we'd describe the problem
