The US shouldn't even be in the G7

Honk honk

100%! I got mine fixed up again recently since I'm in office after many years and it's been great

You wouldn't be driving [...]

God that'd have been nice. I rarely drive my car but even that's too much for me. "Hi, yes I would love to sit still staring at another car's bumper for long periods of time where not focusing entirely could kill myself and others. I LOVE being required by urban planning to do that and LOVE being required to spend tens of thousands on maintaining the luxury of it"

The US and its allies are delivering reconstruction plans for Iran worth at least $300bn

So... Israel? I'm not sure the US actually has any other allies anymore

I was wondering if you meant the HN comments or the Twitter comments but the answer was both.

The word is used as a racial slur in Canada too (unfortunately). I haven't really heard it used in ages but that could just be from moving out of my small town and into a city

100%. Microsoft's whole thing is Embrace, Extend, Extinguish, but they're not immune to it happening to them too. EuroOffice can embrace docx for now but extinguish it later on

macOS Golden Gate brings the era of Intel Macs to a close.

Genuinely makes me sad since this will likely kill off Hackintosh. I have an M3 Pro MBP and run Linux on my desktop so it doesn't directly affect me, but I spent so many years running Hackintosh that it hurts to see its end (as we know it now). I'm sure there'll be projects to run MacOS on third party ARM chips but it won't be the same as now where you can usually get MacOS booting on any random hardware. At one point I was able to boot Mountain Lion on a cheap Dell Chromebook

Reddit moderators be like:

As a counterpoint: moderation that just takes interaction into account leads to dumpster fires like /r/pics or communities entirely overrun by American politics. I love /c/lemmyshitposts but it's grating how much US-centric political posting goes on in there. Like, a tweet from Bernie isn't a shitpost ffs. I'd love at least one space not being ruined by American defaultism

Yeah the UMD minidisks were genuinely a super neat technology and I wish they had been less restrictive so we could have seen more of them
