I just play Steam Deck and write about gaming + Linux a lot

So what are you playing via Junk Store?

If you don't love Cyberpunk when you're done...if you're ever done, then we can no longer be friends!

I wish I could forget it and play it all over again :(

start playing Alan Wake on Gog

I'm re-playing Alan Wake 2 on my Series X! I ordered a copy from England which works here and I've been having a blast. It really is such a unique game. Like a creepy melding of Twin Peaks, Stephen King and Alan Wake's first game. I'm excited to get to the DLC, too!

Alan Wake Remastered goes on sale for a couple bucks on Epic all the time, if you want a slightly more polished version than the GOG one (though it isn't much of an upgrade)

I do love puzzle games

I absolutely do not. I remember playing Professor Layton games on my DS and just going straight to a walkthrough for 'help'. Once it got me past one puzzle, I found myself looking at it for every single one and when I realized I just stopped playing. Puzzles and I do not mix!!!

Commodore's Next Hardware Release Is Dumb, And Proud Of It

LG G6 with Quad-DAC!

Excellent article, very interesting fix!

Thank you! I think the 'writing style' on my behalf was pure laziness this time, it was just a 'hey here's what happens when you buy a broken one!' kinda tale. But thank you for saying so :)

I LOVE stories like yours, when someone's hope is lost but then they take the dive and go forward with a repair. I'm so glad you not only got yours back in action, but that it was objectively better than before! I suppose I have to go and check out DJMP now?! :)

There's something so satisfying about bringing something back to life too!

What do you mean by local seller? Should I contact the Japanese store directly instead of going through the proxy?

Sorry, I mean buying in your own country. It does cost more, but you are actually better off just finding one there. It is a shame, I went through a whole process of finding a proxy service which still ships them and can be bothered with the paperwork, From Japan which got renamed to One Map is the only one which did ship them:

https://www.fromjapan.co.jp/en

This was a year or two back, so maybe check them out?

The Vita is technically shippable, but a few years back Buyee decided they didn't want to do the paperwork. So now it won't be shipped through them! I thinl Neokyo (another proxy service) actually did the same a little ways back also.

That is the only handheld which you can't order though (go figure). PSP, all Nintendo handhelds are fine. Although there is a limit on two li-ion battery limit when they ship an order, so if you get a switch, they'll send the tablet in one package and the joy-cons in another.

Hope that helps. It is frustrating, because Japan's prices are much more reasonable, but you'll have to go through a local seller or eBay (where the seller bothers with the paperwork to ship the built-in Vita battery)

Fixing A Nintendo Game Boy Clone That Runs Too Fast

13d 5h ago in retrogaming from hackaday.com

They were the only cheap and quite accurate way to play your original carts. Since they've stopped production the only alternative now is Analogue Pocket I think, and that cost is sky-high

Back in those times, when the screen mods were just biverts, you'd either do that for a modern lit screen, or pick up a GB Boy. Funny name, but they were actually very clever and the only real (almost) 1-1 copy of Nintendo's own systems

Quick edit

These were fairly universally mocked when they were sold, just because of the name, but now they're gone everyone is sad they didn't pick one up!

You might laugh, but these were highly coveted from Aliexpress back when they were being sold! Finding one now is extremely hard, since they ceased production, so in handheld circles these still have big fans!
