Shit, here I've been putting it off because I built my rig cheap in 2018 and it's starting to show it's age, but that's basically my exact stats!

The reason I support anonymity is actually because I've experienced the results of not having it in the real world. As someone raised agnostic in the middle of the bible belt during the gestation of what is now open Christian nationalism, I got to see exactly what happens when you aren't part of the in group. Starting in the 3rd grade, gangs of kids would make a game out of keeping me away from the playground equipment. To allow me to play there would taint it with my sin. Group projects would have me abandoned or assigned to work with the teacher. This persisted through highschool where I was barred from joining 4H because I wouldn't pray before every meeting and a teacher failed my participation grade every day for not doing the pledge of allegiance. A decision supported by the SuperIntendent.

Now the same people that prayed around the flagpole in the mornings to prepare for a day of telling me I deserve to burn in hell are the people who dictate the highest law of the nation. It's luck enough that I'm not also trans or brown became those are the people they picked to destroy first. That doesn't mean they'll stop there. The death of internet anonymity means that when the powers that be run a kangaroo court before my execution, this post will be evidence of my commitment to sin and irredeemability in the eyes of Trump's God.

I truthfully want a world where anonymity is pointless, but until we live in a world where those in power are without any malice it simply isn't safe. I hold no delusions that my anonymity currently is any actual protection either, but until it's gone it's another hoop they must jump through to get to me and at the very least I can die being petty and difficult.

I disagree. As I understood it, their point was that an animal is a living thing capable of having feelings about a situation and a door is an inanimate object with no feelings or thoughts at all. Dogs can suffer PTSD from being mistreated but a door has no such capacity.

That would make the first comment a false equivalence and their rebuttal valid. In turn we must either present a better equivalent or justify the validity of the original statement.

Photography is a good option. You can take a class for it in most high schools or online if you're an adult. A decent enough camera can be had for around $300 and you can do the editing on free programs like gimp. In turn, you can make that back with a single client foing senior pictures for highschoolers, most wedding photographers charge around a grand for a wedding, more depending on length and if they want touch ups. Realitors like to keep a professional in their pocket because good photos of a house gets more people interested. Then of course there's all the family/baby/dog/business/etc photoshoots in between.

Tailoring. In a world of fast fashion, having someone who can fit you for a suit is a necessity if you're wearing it more than once. Most tailor services I've met work for 3 or 4 clients a month and that covers their lifestyle.

HVAC pays really well and by the time you finish you're trade school class on it you'll already have everything you need to go solo.

Landscaping is another good option if you font mind the heat and labor. For about $2k you can get everything you absolutely need to get into it and by the 5th client you're probably looking at enough to get more professional gear. The best bet for clients are actually smaller businesses like gas stations that aren't chains, rental properties, and specialty clinics. Most of them don't have the service built in and are willing to make a deal if you offer better service or cheaper prices than the current option. This gets even better if you learn local landscaping practices and do the design work too. I knew a guy that got himself a contract with an HOA to do the work for an entire neighborhood. When he started he couldn't dream of affording to live there, by the time I met him he made more than most of the residents.

I'm certain I fall into bottom right as the category but I can't tell where in the quadrant I'd put the dot that indicates that I'm actively still on the internet and available to be found but I've dedicated an unreasonable amount of time to avoiding the modern digital culture in lieu of a mock attempt to recapture the late 2000s digital experience. I'm all for understanding, but my line is drawn when the understanding fails to lead to action. My oldest friend still chooses validation seeking over all else, despite knowing that it's the crux of all his problems and knowing he has the support of everyone, he's adamant that it's not on him to change and it's on his support network to accept this as who he is and accommodate it even at their detriment. 24 years, I can't handle that. I'm not willing to undo changes I made for my mental health to accommodate a lifestyle he's admitted to being toxic.

I didn't watch much of the show, but was it ever stated what the actual point of the watch was? My assumption was that it's actually intended as a genetic compendium and cultural research device. Something to catalog the myriad species in the universe and allow someone to directly interact with them as a member, it just coincidentally doubles as a box of super powers so a 10 year old or a petty tyrant would see it as an easy way to beat face.
