1y 6mon ago in health from www.healio.comThe hypothesis I'd explore (feel free to give me the funding!) would be that the societal pressure and stresses of being lesbian, gay, or bi in the US (let alone in the armed forces) would be the culprit. We already know that stress increases your chances of heart disease, so that's where I'd look first. But that's a scientific wild-ass guess.

Anyone else experience waves of anxiety/shame after info dumping?
1y 9mon ago in autismSure, because we've been taught that is cringe. Personally, I like learning new things (even if it's not something I'd "normally" be interested in), so I love it when my people both infodump, and then the look of pure joy when they realize that I'm into it.

Loss of smell during COVID linked to structural, functional brain alterations
1y 9mon ago in health from healthimaging.comIt can be, but isn't necessarily so. As an AuDHD (autism + ADHD) person, I have "structural alterations" that result in things being different in ways that can be positive or negative. The brain is also EXTREMELY plastic and able to adjust to a lot. That said, the short-run effects are almost always going to be inconvenient at best for the person in question.

Man suffers heart problem after rapid weight loss: A GLP-1 cautionary tale
1y 10mon ago in health from arstechnica.comTrue; the rapidity of the weight loss is one of the main draws of GLP-1 agonists, and that shifts the timeframe for adjusting those meds. My thyroid levels get checked about twice a year, for example.
