Only 1 in 4 F-35s is fully mission capable, GAO finds

4d 1h ago in usa@midwest.social from www.defensenews.com

The mission capable rate, which measures the percentage of time aircraft can perform at least one of their tasked missions, dropped from 67% in fiscal 2021 to 44% in fiscal 2025, GAO found.

The full mission capable rate, the share of time aircraft can perform all assigned missions, slid from 38% to 25% over the same period.

JPO officials told GAO that readiness will likely worsen before it improves, and program documentation suggests improvements may not materialize until late 2026 or later.

...GAO projects the services will face a roughly $1.2 billion annual gap between what their F-35s cost to sustain and what they say they can afford.

Those estimates may understate the problem. GAO noted the fiscal 2027 projections were developed before Operation Epic Fury and may not capture the costs associated with additional flight hours.

Between this issue, expenditures of missiles in Iran, lack of industrial capacity to replace lost material, USA military looks to be the most vulnerable it has been in decades.

It's Saturday, what have you watched this week?

Point Break

I was underwhelmed - the romance felt unbelievable, many parts of the plot felt contrived, and the acting was inconsistent. I guess I see how it could obtain "legendary status" for some people because of the surfing theme, but based on the recommendation I got for it, I was expecting more. I did appreciate the skydiving scenes, and it was generally a fun movie to watch. 6/10

Got a source for this "Revinar" crystal business? I wasn't able to find what you are mentioning when I search for it, and it conflicts with my understanding of chemistry.

HUGE!!

That is meaningful though, and more environmentally friendly to boot!

On Wednesday I tried my first ATG pass in months. It mostly went better than previous attempts in that I felt able to finish the pass - I have learned how to cut hairs with a lighter touch now :)

That being said it was far from a perfect shave, with many more weepers than usual and resulting in some additional irritation later the following day. I have more improving to do, but I'm hopeful that some day I can do an ATG pass without significantly reducing comfort.

I feel that I am still searching for the right shave soap for me. The A&E lavender noir I have is great for slickness and protection, but I think the fragrance irritates my face a little bit... I'm considering haslinger sensitive and zingari unscented, interested to hear if other folks think one of these might be a good option for me or maybe something else?

  • Prep: Shower
  • Brush: West Coast Shaving Synthetic
  • Razor: RazoRock Game Changer .84 closed comb
  • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (1)
  • Lather: Ariana & Evans Lavender Noir Shave Soap

1st pass WTG, 2nd pass XTG, 3rd pass ATG. My first time shaving ATG in quite some time, motivated by an upcoming respirator fit test. It went pretty well aside from the first swipe on my neck - ouch!! And a few more weepers than usual. Aside from that, a DFS, probably my closest shave since switching to safety razors :)

I am not sure if you are aware that all of your posts to this community so far have not had any viewable images. The deviantart link does not even show up at all in my voyager client, so to most users this is tantamount to spam.

Here is how it looks to me:

The corresponding post on deviant art is nice, I would suggest that you post your art like that here, that way people can appreciate it :)

In my experience I have come across people who presented as "stupid." I have worked with rotating casts of temps at a couple of jobs - the "stupid" people are just as common in management as in the temps.

Usually I think it is because they are not present in their moment/don't care about what is happening, so they aren't really stupid but are just... vacant. Once you get them talking about a project they are actually passionate about, you can see the light of their intellect. Some folks however really do have a hard time understanding the world through logic, even when they are really trying.
