Private Smartwatch?

3mon 6d ago in privacy@lemmy.ml

I have PineTime setup with the heart rate tracker and always-on screen, the battery lasts all day if I charge it every night. In the latest update you can set the heart rate tracker to only poll every 1/5/10/30min if you're concerned about the power. The always-on screen uses much more power than the heart rate tracker.

best way to replace timer?

8mon 20d ago in homeassistant

I have a few of the Third Reality sensors, they work pretty well for this kind of application.

If you have a zigbee/z-wave/thread network, you could get a temperature sensor and setup HA to use that to control the AC. There's a built in "generic thermostat" that would do most of the work for you.

Recto: In Case Programming Isn’t Hard Enough

9mon 4d ago in programming@programming.dev from hackaday.com

Am I missing something or is Recto still inherently linear? Flow control still goes one direction through the rectangles, where as the other 2D languages he points out, Befunge, Fish, and Piet, flow control can change directions. In later versions of Befunge it isn't even limited to 2D or moving in cardinal directions.

The Constitution Has Been Changed

This may be just a glitch, but the sections that are missing are alarming, they are all things Trump has sought to undermine. Everyone call your Congressmen now, make them aware of this issue so they can make sure it gets fixed.

Why don't smart watches use USB-C to recharge?

10mon 16d ago in technology from shkspr.mobi

I assume you mean having a USB-C port on the side of the watch. Having that port would allow water to get in to the case, the cradle-style charges used by smart watches allow the case to be sealed to prevent water damage. Even if you are careful about not wearing the watch when bathing, or in the rain, or in a pool, its unlikely you remove you watch every time you wash your hands or wash dishes.
