Any of you read the article that OpenAI wrote? Here's a quote: "The operation sought to exploit and amplify existing public concerns about energy prices and local impacts of data center development, but we found no evidence of meaningful breakout beyond its own activity ." So it's less "China is making you hate data centers" and more "they tried but it didn't work".

Brexit ten years on: the economy - UK in a changing Europe

7d 17h ago in europe@feddit.org from ukandeu.ac.uk

TL;DR: "Brexit has therefore not produced an economic crisis in the conventional sense. The UK economy has continued to grow, unemployment remains relatively low, and many firms have adapted. But adaptation is not the same as absence of cost. The more relevant counterfactual is not whether the economy is still functioning, but how much better it might have performed; on that question, the evidence is increasingly settled."

It's kind of a strange article... UIACE are widely regarded as being impartial and that does seem to be reflected in the text, but this conclusion is still kind of vague. Seems to boil down to "It hasn't been too bad but still might be". Feels like kind of a pointless take. Brexiteers will probably latch onto the first half " Brexit has therefore not produced an economic crisis in the conventional sense. The UK economy has continued to grow, unemployment remains relatively low, and many firms have adapted " while remainers will point to the second half " adaptation is not the same as absence of cost. The more relevant counterfactual is not whether the economy is still functioning, but how much better it might have performed; on that question, the evidence is increasingly settled ". What it doesn't offer is any insight as to what the middle ground might be in terms of reconciliation and what a more nuanced future might look like.

There are so many free apps out there that will give you an endless list of cheats. There's even a free app that will let you hack the games yourself. I'm surprised you've not heard of any of these.

No grudges here

Absolutely! and the even worse part is that you can go for years not even thinking about the person that wronged you. Then one day something reminds you of them and the ADHD brain will speed load everything they did to you in a second. When that turns you into a rage filled, barely coherent, crashing out, panicking mad person everyone around you is like "woah there... what's wrong with you?! You're acting really crazy right now... Yikes". That's a reallly lonely feeling. The only person who doesn't do that is my wife because she knows what's happening and is really good at talking me down from the ledge.

Sweet dreams

You can fix this problem by always going to bed at 3:30am. That's the point where the tiredness gets louder than the ghosts of the past.

I will admit, as a brit, that my automatic reaction to being startled is "Good Lord!"... 🧐

Bus Bound is out!

"Where does Bus Bound fall on the various scales of vehicle simulators?"
It's more fun that all the others I've tried.
"Is it a complete accurate-to-the-last-decal vehicle simulation that in order to enjoy, you basically need a bus licence and a lifelong obsession with bus manufacturers?"
No, but the buses look great and feel responsive and intuitive to drive.
"Is it a casual bus driving game like what Euro Truck Simulator 2 is for lorries?"
It's more fun and instantly playable than ETS2 and takes itself a bit less seriously. Also, there aren't a million, bajillion settings to tweak.
"Does it have a management aspect, and if so, how deep does it go?"
I've only scratched the surface of that. You develop bus routes and get more and more buses and the more you succeed in getting likes, the more the town itself changes and improves.
"Is it particularly moddable?"
It's just come out so I don't know.
"Is it made for wheel-and-pedal players?"
Ah, that I do know! It worked instantly with my Thrustmaster T248 wheel and pedals. The thing is I kind of prefer playing it with my keyboard. Not sure why...

I love that guy! So I guess yeah... good first impression 🤣 and no it's isn't GTA5 Bus Driving. It's just a really nice, not overly complicated bus game. Unlike so many other bus games for me in this one they've really nailed the environment. It feels bustling and busy and not like a bad film set. That's one of the issues I had with Bus Simulator 21. This one's fun and great looking.

Confession time...
