I've learned so much doing this, seeing what comes year after year both plants and animals. I got 13 bird IDs in one sitting with Merlin the other day and use iNaturalist and plantnet really often. My black cherry trees are getting big and I've got young wild grape vines all over.

Can we just start calling them "weird" again? It seemed to work.

Help him find other distractions and interests, and let him talk out what he's upset about. Also be mindful of how you react to things they will copy what they see, both positive and negative.
