I'm not sure why I would be paying a subscription service for something self-hosted, unless you are hosting the cloud saves for us? I'd love to support you financially, but I'm sick of subscriptions. I'd happily do what I did with Immich, which is a single one-time payment. Love the app otherwise.

There are two main reasons why these launchers exist:

a) Selling your own games from your own store means not losing your 30% cut to Valve for selling on Steam. b) Far better automated bug reporting/crash reporting which results in quicker fixes for major crashes in games, which is better for the players.

It was a glitch, not the first time it's happened either. All the banned subreddits were restored yesterday pretty quickly.

I'm talking purely about the work needed to be done on the Steam backend and such. Also in this case, most of these old games - minus Crazy Taxi and perhaps one or two other Dreamcast games - don't have licensed music.

It's likely just meaning new compilations coming down the line as there is zero cost and zero maintenance for them to keep the games up otherwise and is entirely passive income.

This is why you have a staging environment and backups for the very rare case where something goes wrong. I've only had to roll back a container maybe 3 times in 5 years at this point and can just roll back to a previous snapshot in a few minutes.
