Employers Don't Hire "Linux Desktop Users"

21h 3m ago in technology from www.theverge.comYou're grasping. The whole OP is grasping.
"This will happen to Office 2021 and 2024 in the future"

The Verge article isn't making any of these ridiculous claims.

1d 16h ago in linuxsucksArch Linux Blocks New AUR Registrations Amid Malware Cleanup
2d 17m ago in linux@programming.dev from linuxiac.comYeah, I've seen those warnings, and you make a great argument! In practice generally no one was checking those packages because then the AUR becomes less convenient than building from source (and the AUR is a bonus for using Arch.) -It's like saying 'all eyes on code' when time and time again relatively no one is actually auditing and everyone just assumes the myths and lies are right.

Wasted Ram on Different Toolkits and Distro-Agnostic Packages in Linux
3d 11h ago in linuxsucksRam is something Linux users tend to be obsessed with. I think you're missing the cumulative ram (nickles and dimes).
"It's Not Loonix' Fault!"
3d 18h ago in linuxsucksBut I've seen the same from the Windows toxic community.
And what I've seen is Windows subs infiltrated, and Linux sucks subs brigaded by Linux evangelists. You might have indeed had a bad experience, but it's pretty clear where most of the toxicity is coming from.
Conspiracy Theorists, or Socialists that Hate the Rich?
3d 18h ago in linuxsucksNot a real quote btw. A funny stumbling block because conspiracy theorists don't tend to fact check stuff.
Windows 1 (1985) vs Modern Linux 'Rice'
3d 18h ago in linuxsucksIt's a complaint I've seen from people that moved to Linux from Windows or Mac. I don't notice stuff like that myself outside of when it's pointed out (and it seemed legit). Firefox has better font rendering than Chrome based browser for example.
GNU Lags
4d 18h ago in linuxsucksYeah, I'm wondering whether to migrate the book about Google here (4 post series). Google is horrible, but I think most people on Lemmy probably concur. -They might not know how bad it is (like how they shadow banned raw footage and promoted BLM propaganda which led to deaths, property destruction, job losses, racial tensions, civil unrest, etc or how they shield and divert from the dick skinning death cult -which Reddit also does).
Social Anxiety Linked to Privacy Concerns
7d 15h ago in linuxsucksThere are practical privacy concerns, and there's being paranoid. UK is in turmoil because Atheists are starting to balance out the Christians (opinion -open to counter arguments). In their environment, it pays to be more privacy conscious. The Rob Braxman level of paranoia is rooted in conspiracy theory stemming from lost trust in authority at a young age (locked up during war).
