Clarence Thomas Could Be Charged With Felony Tax Fraud in Virginia on Monday
25d 8h ago in politics from cmarmitage.substack.comTo be clear (because it isn't totally obvious from the title and text submitted on Lemmy), this article is a call to action, not reporting on a filing that's actually happened or rumored to be in progress or anything like that:
So why Monday? Because there is nothing special about Monday. It is the next day the courthouse opens, the next day a prosecutor could walk this to a grand jury, the same as they could have on any working day for the last several years. For anyone else, this case would already be filed.
[...]
Three officials can move on this, and they can each do something different, so we ask each one for what they actually have the power to do. [...] Here is where to reach them, by phone or by email.
He could be charged Monday. Or Tuesday. Or he could've been charged last Monday. There's three people in Virginia who have the power to make that happen, you should go call and email them.

2y 8mon ago in technology from www.pcgamer.comThis isn't even lies, damned lies, and statistics territory - it's just nothing. I know VR motion sickness exists (I still get it even after an uncomfortable amount of time in SteamVR sometimes) but that's... that's not anything

2y 8mon ago in linux@lemmy.ml from lemmy.mlWhen a (typical) Linux system boots up, it first goes through an "early boot" environment that just has some basic drivers and things. The entire purpose of this environment is to find where your actual root file system is (which could theoretically be on something quite complicated, like RAID or a network file system), mount that, and then transition to the "real" system.
That error appears when something goes wrong with mounting the real file system.
