Don’t forget to use your paper straw!
1y 9mon ago in facepalm@lemmy.wtf from lemmy.wtfRight?? Private jet or no private jet, I would jump at the chance to just decree from on high that corporate HQ was now virtual. Like why make that much money and still enslave yourself to a commute?
Maybe we should all be calling him Terry.
1y 10mon ago in politicalmemesYeah I'm trans and my wife is a cis lady and neither of our current legal names are our birth name. No one's used my birth name for at least a decade but when we visit my in-laws I'm the only one who doesn't call her by hers. Always amuses me when I stop to think about it.
Progress Tuesday - What is your child's latest achievement?
1y 11mon ago in parentingHow old is she? Our guy just turned 21 and he loves "jumping" but still doesn't get any air, not sure if he's behind or just doing his thing.
Garter snake chilling on my MIL'S zucchini plant

1y 11mon ago in parentingMy in laws' garage door. Happy to report that after almost three weeks here he now yells "OPEN DOOR" and insists on pressing the button himself whenever he's brought to/from the car.
The Boogeyman (2023) | Discussion
2y 8mon ago in horrormovies@lemmy.mlI enjoyed it, granted it was also one of the few movies I've been able to see in theater since my son was born so that might have skewed my perspective. It wasn't high art but it was a solid film with some great set pieces. Really only tangentially related to the story but I think that was for the best, as the story relies a little too heavily on the sheer unlikeability of the David Dasmalchian (sp?) character.
Re-installing a wall-to-wall closet

2y 8mon ago in casualconversationI made it to the clinic roughly on time despite a sick wife and baby, and there's only one person at reception who's taking five years to solve one client's issue.
Actually there's two but they're both working on the same problem. And I'm not even the first person in line.
Yup
2y 8mon ago in microblogmemes from lemmy.mlI think my landlord sees us as people, he's just fundamentally incapable of understanding what it means to live in a lower income bracket. He's selling the house we live in and seemed genuinely confused why we, as a single earner household paying significantly below market rent, would be worried because "there's only a few situations where they can kick you out". Yes and if they invoke one, which they will because we're a bad investment, we're SCREWED.
Meanwhile he thinks he's being generous by listing for below appraisal when it's still at least double what he paid a couple years ago. Just living on a totally different planet.
Public marriage proposals aren’t romantic – they’re a form of coercion
2y 10mon ago in unpopularopinion from archive.liI proposed publicly to my wife but a) I knew she wanted to get married, b) I am super reserved usually so doing it publicly was more meaningful because it was more difficult, and I think most crucially c) I didn't film it for the socials. There's definitely a genre of public proposal that's super cringey but it's not really fair to paint them all with the same brush.
[TV] A Homophobic Gay Legend Comes to an End, or how the Supernatural Finale Made Game of Thrones Look Good
2y 10mon ago in hobbydramaThis must be some alternate time-line bullshit, Supernatural ended after five seasons like God intended and everything else is some kind of weird decade-long shared hallucination.
can i hide entire instance from /all feed
2y 10mon ago in voyagerappThe Connect app allows you to filter out an instance, but it also hides comments from any users logged in to that instance. Which cam be a bit distracting, though all you have to do is press a button to reveal them.
Can I block an entire instance instead of just individual boards?
