Crocsarella
2mon 25d ago in comicstripsI have weirdly wide feet and crocs are the first shoes I've tried that I can wear all day long and not be in pain. I don't care what they look like, I am just overjoyed I can walk around the city all day and don't want to cry 5 minutes in cause my feet hurt too much.
Ubuntu's trust problem in 4 concrete issues - verified facts, no FUD
3mon 3d ago in linux@programming.dev from media.piefed.socialI left Windows because I didn't want to update to 11. I went to Ubuntu simply because I used it once 10 years ago and it seemed ok. So far my experience has been great. I have 0 technical skills but I was able to make everything work, I only had to google about flat-packs. My husband is technical so he set up access to our home system. I am not moving from Ubuntu now as I have everything set up just as i like it and everything I want/need just works. Again, I am not technical so everything I need is just a browser, email, discord, and steam.
Honestly, if someone I know would ask for a Linux recommendation I would recommend Ubuntu. Simply for how simple it is that you never have to touch a command line or terminal and still just use the basic apps you want. I think its an amazing low bar, low effort entry to Linux and there's nothing wrong with that.

YSK that electric blankets are cheap and incredibly cozy
5mon 16d ago in youshouldknowI had this last year from keeping a really hot water bottle on my lap all day long. It went away after a few months. This winter I upgraded to a electric blanket and no issues so far. I don't think that the blanket gets hot enough.
Dry Shampoo is the teenage girl equivalent to teenage boys' Axe Body Spray
6mon 22d ago in showerthoughtsI used to use it when going to my family in laws. Their shower is god awe-full, spending half a hour in semi tepid water not even strong enough to rinse all the soap out of your hair. At least with dry shampoo i could skip a day of that.
Why do you personally believe in your religion?
6mon 23d ago in asklemmyI believe in Pantheism. I'm not sure if its really a religion or more of a philosophy but in the end it makes the most sense to me. It doesn't have a fancy book or any rules to follow. Nothing really changes by believing in it either. Its just nice and it makes sense to me.

8mon 26d ago in memes from sopuli.xyzThats how I got married. Asked some guy I knew on msn messenger to help me with my computer problem. He got really upset and ranted about people only reaching out to him cause they needed their computer fixed and never to ask how he was doing. So I asked him how he was doing. Married for nearly 20 years now.
toruletoise
8mon 1d ago in onehundredninetysix@lemmy.blahaj.zone from lemmy.blahaj.zoneI have 2 tortoises and their terrarium is in a separate room in our apartment. However, I can't get this room cold enough in the winter for them to sleep so I was thinking about storing them in the shed. With current climate change however our winters don't get cold enough anymore so I'm afraid the shed won't either. Now I'm thinking about getting a small table top fridge for them to sleep in. I can put it on my desk and store some cans of drink in there as well :D
July is disability pride month!
11mon 10d ago in comicstrips from piefed.cdn.blahaj.zoneI see where you are coming from but I personally like Disability Pride. I have schizo affective disorder, Fibromyalgia and Ehlers Danlos syndrome. My mind and body are a dumpster fire on the best of day's but I feel pride in my body never giving up and always doing its best despite everything wrong with it. I feel pride for my mind continuing to fight, sometimes for literal survival.
Your disabilities might not be something to feel proud of, but the fact you continue to live and function as much as you can, is.
