Huh (2026-06-11)
1d 6h ago in programmer_humor@programming.dev from discuss.onlineI get your point, I often search for equations, but really 12/294*100 is not so difficult to remember.
You've got two numbers and a division, putting the in the wrong order will give you a clearly wrong result.
The problem with LLMs is that they are not reliable at numerical calculations even if they got the correct equation. But that is now easily fixed by giving them access to computation software.
Can someone make sense of this chemical?

Commodore announces Linux-based flip phone with ‘no social media, no browser’ — the Callback 8020 will be available in five retro colorways starting at $499, runs 99% of Android apps
1d 13h ago in linux@lemmy.ml from www.tomshardware.comThe main reason I have a smartphone is to have a browser and email. If those are not available I might as well use a dumb phone.
It's a dumb phone with Spotify... I used to do just fine with music loaded on the phone memory.
I can get a new modern smartphone which works without major problems at $80. I see no reason to spend double that on a flip phone.

1d 21h ago in programmer_humor@programming.dev from lemmy.blahaj.zoneI'm confused as to the use of double true.
I've been running a query adding TRUE entries to other TRUE entries, but I just get TRUE as result.
The hallucinogenic mushroom that contains no known psychedelic
3d 3h ago in science from psychedelics.co.ukHospital report that people eating it say the same thing. No known psychedelic compound has been found.
It could be anything. They report this happens with undercooked mushrooms, might as well be a protein.
Now, finding what it is that causes the effect will be very difficult...
You'd have to isolate all compounds in there which are not been previously tested and test them separately. Even then you may find nothing as the effect may be produced by a specific combination of compounds which have no activity when isolated.
Basically: we know it happens but have no idea why.

5d 8h ago in linux@lemmy.mlI doubt Debian requires systemd in order to work. However I do not see what your problem is with systemd, do you have an example of problems caused by the bloat?
It is very light on the system and a much better way to handle services that the old init scripts. If you want to reduce system resources usage I'd look somewhere else. You are likely to save a few MB of ram and some cycles of your cpu by removing systemd, but I doubt any significant amount.

Thank you for the clear explanation it was very useful to understand the meaning behind it. I work in research and as such these problems do not touch me and I had no idea they existed.
