Pistol-sized red dot sights with magnification?
19h 39m ago in gunsNot really. The expected common uses for a pistol with a mini-dot don't really mesh with 1.5x magnification. Dedicated scopes exist as I'm sure you know, but they don't come in the same footprint as a dot.
Normally eyesight issues with pistols come down to seeing the reticles not the targets. If you can't see a 15 yard target, then that really becomes more of an optometrist's problem to solve.
People with astigmatism normally can find a workable pistol red dot, since with the reticle being so much further away than on a rifle, the light streaking or blobbing tends not to be as bad. You can check out a few brands in person to find one that looks crisp and doesn't have a refresh rate your eyes hate. If you really have serious red dot issues, the next best thing is something like a SeeAll open sight.

What is the strangest theater released movie you've watched all the way through?

I consider this part of a genre of cynically made movies that rely on a great poster and catchy premise to get butts in seats, and then the movie itself is just sort of slapped together. It's what I imagine has dudebros telling eachother is "Dude this movie is soooo crazy."

Unidentified soldier holds a flamethrower during a training exercise. Fort Belvoir, Virginia, 1942. Photo by Frank S. Errigo
1d 22h ago in historyphotos@piefed.socialI'll tell him.
I have found no source that says that. I've found only sources of USMC flamethrower training happening in the pacific itself. If you can find a clearer training pipeline for USMC WW2 flamethrowers I can put it in the thread opening.
If there's any better sourcing on this image than I've found, I would like to add it. My best source says this is a soldier and from Fort Belvoir (a U.S. Army training center in WW2). I've addressed that the camouflage pattern was used by the Army and Marines, and that branches wore (the very similar) camo uniforms from other branches, so that doesn't override the Getty description for me.
