Finishing Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb, I think I only have the last chapter left. Liveship Traders is among my favorite fantasy series, I'm liking Rain Wild Chronicles so far, but I'd say I enjoyed Liveship Traders more. But it's only the first book of four, so that may change. It's a slow read for sure...

I did from Apple a few years ago after I bought a new Mac mini, but there was some issue with my Apple Care subscription and they helped me to sort it out. I actually had to talk to a real person on the phone from another country (Ireland) because they needed to escalate. But my issue was resolved and they were very helpful.

I was going to ask about that -- how to delete my account if I get locked out and won't provide my ID. It sounds like a real hassle. I had my LinkedIn account suspended for a long time now because I don't find that website useful, but I still wanted to have options. This year I received a few emails from them telling me that some of my contacts solved some online quizzes on LinkedIn and that I should try. Who has time for online quizzes?! That must be the same type of person who plays Solitaire on their Windows PC. And also they are probably bored at their job, I'm not (quite the contrary).

As a Linux noob I like your oneliner but I agree with @solxix@pawb.social

A more approachable way to do that would be to use wget and then manually run apt install with the downloaded file. That's what I've been doing. :) Yours is "magic" ;)

we are like an inch (or 25.4 mm if you’re on metric)

Nobody says that in metric! I had to read it like three times. It's "2,54 cm" (used the comma, too).

Probably won't read any more McCarthy after this.

So is this your first McCarthy novel? I consider him one of my favorite authors, but "Blood Meridian" was nothing special to me. Neither was "The Road" which is always highly praised and was my first book of his. The reason why I consider McCarthy a great author is his Border Trilogy, starting with "All the Pretty Horses", it was so atmospheric and touching. There is always some violence but the focus of those books is elsewhere, it hits hard in the feels ;) So maybe, before you decide never to give him another chance, try that one more book. If you do, I'd love to hear about your experience.

EU takes action against Spain over controversial traveller registration rules

What kind of sensitive data do they collect, exactly? The article doesn't mention it. I heard about those rules (but no specifics) a couple years ago which actually pushed down Spain on my to-go list.

Like KDE Connect which uses only the local network.

It was my personal GOTY 2025. Fantastic game. I actually liked it more than Bloober's SH2R because of the setting, visual presentation, overall mood and music. I didn't hate the combat, either.
