11h 54m ago in hackernews@lemmy.bestiver.se from lore.orgI may be picky, but why should I trust a version control system that doesn't even host itself?
White House Scrambles to Explain Trump’s Public Glitches as He Turns 80
3d 10h ago in politics from www.thedailybeast.commoments in which the president closes his eyes and appears to doze off are actually instances of him leaning in to “better hear someone speaking,”
Let's test this theory and ask him for a 200 word summary of the meeting afterwards.
Motorola effectively bricked its entire line of WiFi routers without explanation
10d 18h ago in technology from mashable.comJust confirms my experience that whenever "there is an app" for a device, it is a red flag as the device's ecosystem is fragile: when the vendor looses interest in maintaining app or servers, your device turns into a brick. Plus, those apps demand suspicious permissions like access to the address book or the ability to make phone calls.

Musicians, music fans, and music listeners of Lemmy, what communities do you recommend?
1mon 14d ago in asklemmyI am no musician, so I cannot comment in which communities exist. On the "void" part, you can help by contributing to existing but virtually dead communities by posting and commenting there. Sure, that sounds like a standard phrase from Lemmy's advertising, but this is how active communities are built (that and that newcomers are treated well). Good luck in any case! 😀

Mozilla launches Thunderbolt AI client with focus on self-hosted infrastructure
1mon 26d ago in news@lemmy.linuxuserspace.show from arstechnica.comAt first, I read "Thunderbird" and feared that they would mess around with the email client by adding AI slop. Relieved that it was something else, as there is no "LibreWolf Thunderbird" (yet).
