Is Plex really Self Hosting?
22d 13h ago in selfhostedYou're right, but my low-tech family and friends will not be able to figure that out. lol
No, Plex is not self-hosting. Once they tried to get me to purchase a Plex Pass for remote access, I knew I needed something else that didn't have a paywall.
That said, many people find their way to better services like Jellyfin by first using Plex and coming to this same conclusion, so I am not going to write off the Plex people yet. They will figure it out one day 🙂

2mon 5d ago in android@lemmy.mlI have a degoogled phone (LineageOS) and I was able to get my banking apps working by isolating them in a work profile using Insular and also putting MicroG and Aurora Store in there. MicroG tricks the apps into thinking you are connected to Google Play Services. IMO its better than having a 2nd or 3rd phone.

2mon 18d ago in nonpolitical_comics@piefed.social from substackcdn.comWhat would you say is the most reliable, "it just works" distro currently?
2mon 25d ago in linux4noobs@programming.devI installed ZorinOS recently. For a basic user its a great distro. It is preinstalled with Brave and LibreOffice. Easy to use DE. There would be no need to touch the terminal.
I am running Adguard Home and I was able to set that up via the App Manager. Not bad.
I needed a terminal for Docker, but most everyday users won't require that.

This is not an article about trans people. The article is about a movement of Libertarians in New Hampshire. Here is the caption of Carla's photo. She is not trans. She is a woman.

It is working. We have been here for 10 years! We estimate that roughly 10,000 Libertarians have moved to New Hampshire since we started. 🙂
