That reminds me of this little bit of history: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v61h4AaiUF0

It's surreal how seemingly everyone in this article - including the journalist - has adopted the rebranding effort.

It's not my area of expertise, but this bit also seems like a nonsensical attempt at selling the 'factory' rebrand spin:

Firmus has said the factory will contain data centre infrastructure and specialised computers that use graphics processing units to produce "AI tokens" needed for tools such as generative AI chatbot ChatGPT.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but in the context of GenAI, 'tokens' are either 'credits' used as the billing unit of a GenAI tool (and they aren't 'produced'), or they are the (transformed) semantic units of a query/response (e.g. words). They aren't some kind of fungible resource produced like a good output from a factory to then be used by some other tool as this would imply. Am I misinterpreting the implications of that paragraph? Maybe it's not deliberate and the journo is just out of their depth?

How the explosion of the ultra-wealthy risks democracy

From the Guardian article that this post links to:

Weeks after Chebii’s death, members of the Kenyan diaspora staged a protest outside the hotel where she died, calling for answers and transparency about what had occurred.

...

“The circumstances surrounding her death, together with the time it has taken to receive substantive updates from the relevant authorities, have left many community members with questions and concerns.”

From an article linked in the body of the previous post:

The march, which proceeded to Meriton, was described by organizers as peaceful, respectful, and well coordinated. Community members turned out in solidarity with Chebii's family, calling for transparency and answers regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.

But I don’t actually know what coverage I would demand in this situation.

I think what the Guardian has now published is about what I'd expect, but, as was covered in the video in the previous post I linked to, no Australian outlet had published anything at all about it. This is the first mention in the Australian press, a month later.

That's despite the suspiciousness, questions from the family, coverage in Kenyan and diaspora media, the matter being raised in the Kenyan Parliament, and a community protest march in Sydney (more than two weeks ago now).

Previously posted regarding the lack of Australian coverage on this: https://aussie.zone/post/33329486

I think it looks very much like he was doing the 'circle game' thing, though he denies it was intentional at all.

Grill’d burger chain sued by ACCC over alleged greenwashing

Grill'd are scumbags. As mentioned in the linked article, they exploited supposed traineeships to underpay staff (among other labour violations). From what I can tell, they continued to do that for about a decade after it was called out.
