Just thought it was funny that looking back I've used Reddit for over 10 years and I never actually paid them a dime. I feel really good about donating so much money monthly here, though, because I have so much hope for this place and a brighter future for us all in the fediverse. So glad to have a place ready to catch me when I drifted away from something I've been doing so long! Love the new home here! Let's all run off a cliff together!
Well you didn't donate any money, but you donated your content and your time, especially if you were moderating. As a Reddit user they pretty much own you.
Spending time on a thing is really no different than spending money on a thing. Everybody's time is worth something.
Everything you donate here goes to supporting a community, everything you donate there goes to lining fatcat pockets.

Same. Never gave refit Reddit a dime during my 12 years there. Signed up for the patreon on world couple of days back.
Same for me, never paid a dime for Reddit Premium (any time I got it it was only by getting gilded) and I feel much better donating here!
