My Calathea Bloomed

1y 7mon ago by lemmy.ca/u/Canadian_anarchist in houseplants@mander.xyz

I thought it was just another leaf growing, but to my surprise it was a bloom stalk. It lasted less than 24 hours before expiring, and a second opened up. It's always cool to get surprise blooms!

I rooted a few clippings in water for a couple of months and when I planted them in soil, they bloomed multiple times over a month once they got adjusted!

Oh wow, I didn't know they could flower. How pretty!

That's a happy plant. Never had one flower.

Isn't that a Ctenanthe amagris (prayer plant) instead of a Calathea?

I recommend everyone to plant that thing into LECA. Mine thrive like weeds and are blooming multiple times a year.
