Do goth guys have the same problem?
11mon 1d ago by lemmy.world/u/Teknevra in ask_a_gothI know that goth women deal with a insane amount of sexualization.
But do goth guys have the same issue?
"Insane sexualization?" I think scant few cis-het males ever deal with this issue regardless of subculture. When people whine about being sexualized, it's always about sexual attention from others regarded as below the whiner's self-perceived sexual ranking. And way too many people "complaining" about being sexualized are actually not-so-humble bragging.
Ain't nobody ever complaining about being sexualized by people at or above one's self-judged hotness level. "Oh no, a super-hottie thought I'm fuckable... my self-image is shattered."
Now I do think many people struggle with wanting non-sexual connection and community. But they are hamstrung by so much of our modern means of connection being designed for hookups. That's a whole different problem.
No one is forcing them to dress the way they do. Aren't they sexualizing themselves by dressing seductively?
Oh right, because wearing lengerie as normal clothes isn't intended to be sexy, and definitely isn't meant to elicit arduous attention from others that see it.
Give me a fucking break.
