There are many gacha games out there with lootbox mechanics, which are basically gambling—you "pull" for a reward which could be something crappy that has little value/is easy to gain in game, or it could be a rare or powerful item. (I know of gacha games and how they work, I am not a legal expert. I think it is technically not gambling according to the law because you always get some reward, instead of straight-up getting nothing but lost money/the experience of pulling, but in practice it works on the same psychological principles and on chance.) They usually do have some gameplay outside of the gambling, but pulling something good helps out with gameplay challenges a lot.
