Do mosquitoes ALWAYS buzz? Or only as they're zeroing in on their prey?

Well the buzzing is caused by the fast movement of their wings isn't it? So I assume all the time while in flight they'd buzz

As I was pondering how to formulate my question into words, the original wording I thought of was even a bit more stupid:
"Do mosquitoes ALWAYS buzz, or only when they're near our ears?" 😆
Now that's a philosophical question. "If a mosquito flies where no one can hear does it make a sound?" is much like "If a tree falls in a forest when no one can hear does it make a sound?" Haha

In that case, it depends on if by "buzz" or "sound" you mean the compression waves in the air or if you mean the qualia, or subjective perception, of those compression waves.
It's kind of a philosophy meme, but "it depends on what you mean by buzz" is why so many philosophy papers start with exhastively defining terms.
