Double your debt for a big reward in Hard mode

Not a roguelike. It's an "upgrade addictor".

Yes, a roguelike. You may call it "roguelite" instead if you want to be specific, but it is a roguelike.

I'm going to need your definition of "roguelike", because this isn't that.

I'm serious. Define roguelike. Here's Wikipedia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roguelike

Thanks! Now please show me the exact definition & how it excludes this game.

While doing so, please pay attention to the part where the article mentions discussions around the definition.

you guys are both cool and do not come off like angry super nerds arguing over videogame nomenclature on the internet

I'm upvoting the correct person!

Are you a bot? This slot machine simulator fails to meet the most basic definition of a roguelike, regardless of whether or not the article discusses the definition.

Dungeon crawler.

Procedurally generated.

Less important: Death means you start over

You know that there are hundreds of rogue-likes that a) aren't Dungeon Crawlers, and b) have the same level of procedural generation as this game?

Or are you gonna walk around screeching how many of the most popular roguelikes aren't actually roguelikes?

No, I'll just refer to the wiki that defines what a roguelike actual is.

Just because you eat it for breakfast doesn't make it a waffle, no matter what the toast lobby tells you.

I hope you already know this, but Wikipedia does not define what words mean.

You've also managed to misunderstand a definition that's only one sentence long. Or do you just not know what the word "traditionally" means?

Sorry I didn't respond last night, I was busy playing that classic rogue-like game, Bejeweled. Then I switched it up and played some of the action/platformer Sid Meier's Civilization.

It's called a roguelike because it's like rogue. This is a slot machine simulator.

Slay the spire is not much like rogue at all, but it is a roguelike.

DCSS is my fave that is actually like Rogue.

At least no one is calling it rouge lol
