'Bethesda's in the bad position of having expectations being so high they cannot be met': Skyrim design lead reckons it might be hard for The Elder Scrolls 6 to live up to the ever-increasing fervor

"Boy, do they have their work cut out for them."

What expectations? I've been playing Skyrim and Oblivion for so long I forgot Daggerfall was once ES. We can't have expectations when there are teenagers walking around that haven't seen a new ES IP in their lifetime.

Just follow along the trajectory from previous Elder Scrolls games. It worked so far:

  • Improve graphics
  • Make world smaller, but add more dungeons
  • Dumb down character creation and magic system
  • Leave bugs from previous games in

What expectations? I don't think anyone's actually expecting another elder scrolls title to actually materialize at this point, unless we're talking another release of skyrim.

Bughesda and expectations?

I'm pretty sure the expectations are that TES 6 is going to be the next ET game, it's not hard to beat that.

Painted into the same corner as Patrick Rothfuss.

Nah, Pat's got real expectations to meet. This guy's just suffering from wishful thinking.
