I mean it's very similar to the Russo Ukrainian war.
You start off with a decapitation strike to take out the regime (which doesn't work) then slowly realize you need to commit more and more assets until you have a full scale invasion with ground troops and you realize you're on day 1,516 of your 4 day special military operation.
fair, but russia directly borders ukraine and attacked areas at the border, it'd be more comparable if they attacked portugal.
