Shortish (45 min or so) bike ride around Commercial Drive?
1mon 28d ago by piefed.ca/u/MyBrainHurts in vancouver@lemmy.caHi there!
I'm recovering from surgery and the next step is getting back into physical stuff. I usually bike to get everywhere rather than sightsee, so figured I'd ask the crowd to see if there are any fun interesting routes or circuits you might recommend.
Cheers!
I guess it depends where you’re starting from on Commercial Dr, but the Central Valley Greenway (and BC Parkway, somewhat further south) is quite accessible and should be nice and green this time of year.
Trout Lake is not too bad to cycle around either.
The Seawall is fun to bike, assuming you start from Commercial Broadway station, bike along 10th to Ontario, then straight North until you hit False Creek, then bike to Granville Island, (lock your bike then) take a water and bathroom break at the market, bike across Burrard bridge, go along the North side of the seawall back east until Ontario again, then bike back to the starting point. It will be 45-50 minutes of biking plus your break time.
Stanley park is a classic 45 minute route at a leisurely pace (starting at the entrance of Stanley Park).
Beach Ave/Sunset Beach, Kits Beach are really nice places to bike to/along.
Burnaby has a lot of nice parks too but might take longer to get to.
That's a good route! I do a lot of that for commuting but a great reminder that with the weather changing, I should spend some time and do a casual Stanley Park ride soon.
Much appreciated!
