Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era sold 250,000 copies and 'broke even on development costs' in 1 day

Not a bad start for an old school strategy game.

I am a long time fan of this series, and so far I'm quite pleased with this edition. Much better than some of the Ubisoft entries. I don't have whole days to throw into strategy games anymore, but what I've tried over the last couple evenings has been a nice balance between preserving the essence of the series, and innovating on those themes.

It doesn't feel overly raw for an early access game, but I do notice a few balance issues with the castles which were added since the beta.

I do have one nit. Why did they replace the demons with lava bugs? The knights and angels castle is still there. I hope they made this decision because they wanted to try something new, and not because they got squeamish about offending conservative parents.

I have a feeling that it's mostly adults playing this, with perhaps some parents introducing their kids to strategy games (I first played HoMM II when I was about ~10 in the mid 90s, it was really hard but I kept at it since back then there wasn't much choice).

I saw the Spiffing Brit review/exploit of it and it looks gooooood.

Ooh, didn’t know it was out yet. Definitely gonna pick it up

It's Early Access at the moment.

I have enjoyed it so far! I look forward to more content and updates.

I picked this up yesterday for my Steam deck. The community controls are trash. Going to try and improve the configuration, but with the way the ui is, it looks like it is going to be mainly a mouse/keyboard game.
