That's just insane. Both the developer and publisher of an anticipated game want more time to make a game match its creative vision, but fucking Paramount can say no!? Why does a rights-holder have such outsized control?? They don't even do business in the videogame industry...
I mean they own the rights to it.
Imagine if say you were an author of a well known and appreciated series and you licensed out your work to make a well-written RPG with unique mechanics and the developer instead decided to make a shit tier mobile gacha. You should have the right to cancel this.
That being said, I do think there should be a difference between the rights assigned to a creator-ownet and a mere owner of a creative concept.
