A family member bought this from me a week ago and it's still healthy

I sold them a tray of live daikon radish microgreens and they haven't used it yet. They are still alive and even a week later, when harvested will be perfectly fresh. Simply swapping the water in the bottom tray once every two days is all they've had to do, placed near a window. This hasn't required any refrigeration at all. I think they are basically locked in stagnation because they're nutrient deprived, but have enough just to survive at this stage. As far as product shelf life goes, this is pretty amazing.
Just watch for mold growth and rinse well before eating.
Yes I recommend doing a water swap once every two days, keeping only a thin layer of water in the bottom tray for the tips of the roots to touch. This makes it very difficult for mold to grow given that this doesn't use any grow medium, similar to kratky style. At this stage, the seeds are never submerged. I personally don't rinse them before eating and have never had any issues. During the growing process I use hydrogen peroxide in the soak, and spray diluted a couple times throughout the process.
Sounds like you have it dialed in 👍
Thanks, almost. I'm still making plenty of mistakes especially during the soak/blackout period. After they sprout though it's smooth sailing every time.
I'd expect clean water "rinses" to decrease the nutritional content over a few days, any idea if this is the case?
Similar is done when growing cannabis to remove all the fertiliser from the plant to make it taste or smoke better
That’s complete bullshit lol.
You wash it remove bugs and debris, you can’t wash chemicals or nutrients out of the plant with a bath. If you’ve got literal fertilizer on your plant, be more careful while watering it.
You're not washing the outside.. You're putting the plant in distilled/reverse-osmosis/otherwise clean water and forcing it to consume all of the already absorbed minerals for a week or so

Scroll down to flushing
While that is one method some growers use, it's far from a settled debate and honestly seems more like "bro science" - which the cannabis community as a whole suffers from a lot (dont get me started on the indica vs sativa nonsense). In my personal experience I've grown using both methods and seen negligible differences between the two.
Notice how there’s no scientific research to back that up?
Jeeze dude.
Flushing and Rinsing are also two vastly different things. If you mention one, but mean the other, how is anyone to know?
Either way, it’s all bullshit and has no science to back it up.
Also, think about this for half a second, if you could remove nutrients, wouldn’t that also remove the THC and Cannabanoids/terpenes? That’s the exact opposite of what you want.
No, starving the plant of ionic minerals for a day or two would not remove terpenes and cannabinoids.. What are ya smoking?
So why would it remove nutrients or fertilizer?
Lmfao.
Flushing was found to be ineffective in removing any significant amount of nutrient from the bud.
Nope, there's no where for the nutrition to go. It stays locked in the plant, harvesting and eating minutes after still gives you the best nutrition. It's much better than buying microgreens harvested from a day ago which lose a lot of nutrition over time the instant they're cut. Not to mention, if you harvested and put them in the fridge for a week, they'd be wilted no matter what and you'd have had to pay for refrigeration the entire time.
Oh definitely expect them to do better than fridge ones, but that wasn't the comparison I was making
