As an Australian I find the idea of growing prickly pear in your backyard hilarious. It's an incredibly invasive feral species.
However, since I also have bamboo growing in my backyard here in Australia, I can't throw stones, can I?
One of my favourite things about summer is making "Gubbröra" with my own vegetables 😁 I'm not sure how to translate "Gubbröra" so I'm taking suggestions....
