Shishi looks to go back to back henkas but Wakanosho gets the read and pushes him out.

In the meeting of some big boys Mitakeumi looks for a henka but Kinbozan hadn't been charging forward anyway. Looks for a weak slap down as Mita moves forward but he's taken easily over the edge.

Some initial striking off the tachiai for Tobizaru and Abi who goes for a pull down and gets an advantageous position but the agile Monkey spins back quickly and on Abi's next attack parries the incoming thrust and gets an inside position for a slap down.

Good grappling between Oshoumi and Nishikijifuji who eventually tries a neck throw that sees some success but Oshoumi recovers and walks Nishi out.

Ura stays low and stays long on Oshoma's thrusts, looking to duck and get inside. Eventually powers his way through a neck/head thrust to find a left hand grip, defends a throw by locking an outside leg, and walks Oshoma over the bales.

Tamawashi gets his first win with straightforward driving sumo which Asahakuryu tries to dance away from at the tawara but can't escape.

Chiyoshoma and Hakunofuji trade false starts before a gentle tachiai and have a grappling battle where Chiyo tries a couple throws before Haku gets a big underarm throw for the win.

Daieisho and Churanoumi start with some tsuppari before grappling and breaking again to deliver huge blows to each others' faces. Daiei retreats and when Chura follows a bit off balaced Daiei circles and slaps him down.

A lot of energetic slapping between Ichiyamamoto and Yoshinofuji, who eventually goes for a pull down that unbalances Ichi and takes him to the straw. Ichi recovers but Yoshi has a strong inside position and bumps Ichi over the edge.

Another slap fight with Fujinokawa and Hiradoumi before Fuji's big slap down sends Hira almost to the edge. He recovers and as Fuji presses the attack with more thrusts Hira manages to parry and Fuji goes stumbling to the straw as Hira balances on one foot but Fuji stops his momentum just in time for Hira to lose his balance and step out.

Oho backs Takanosho up and looks to overpower and drive him out but then changes up with a quick slap down that puts Taka's hand on the dirt.

Wakatakakage takes the match to Atamifuji and finds a belt grip and good angle to muscle the bigger man around the ring. Atami creates some space with a big forearm to the face but WTK squares up and gets Atami to dance along the bales. He drives back to the center and tries an arm throw of his own, spinning WTK across to the edge but they recover again to the center and when Atami tries a drive WTK hefts the massive bulk 180 degrees and after some strong toe grips on the straw by Atami WTK flexes his mighty calves and is able to finally force him out.

A lot of dodging and parrying between Gonoyama and Kotoshoho before Gono finally goes for a pull down that manages to get Koto on the clay before Gono falls past the tawara.

Kirishima wrestling today with a large padded bandage across his forehead that immediately falls off after clashing with Shodai. As Kiri looks for position and begins a drive Shodai is backed up but then goes for a slapdown that puts Kiri's hands down.

The field evens up with 6 wrestlers at 8-2. It's anyone's game at this point.
