Mandalorian and Grogu thoughts (mild scenario spoilers, no plot spoilers)...

Let's be 100% honest, it's review proof. You already know if you're going to see it or not...
It's fun, bigger than the streaming show, but maybe not necessarily as big as one of the franchise films. Not that it NEEDS to be, it's still fun for what it is.
Lots of borrowing from other properties, the opening is pretty much a blatant steal from "Leon: The Professional". They go to a Blade Runner planet and talk to a Blade Runner food vendor.

There's a cool bit with life size CGI versions of the chess board from Star Wars.

You know the Lone Wolf and Cub trope where dad gets sick and the kid has to take care of them? Yeah, they do that too.

One scene is a direct copy from Apocalypse Now...
Overall? I had fun. Will buy it if/when it comes out on physical media.

Yeah, at no point did you feel any of the mains was actually in danger. Still had fun!
Yea, I had fun. Solid 7/10 for me. Story elements and pacing could've been better in places, especially the first half.
But give me a star wars story where it's mostly aliens and there are animatronics/puppets, and I'm a happy camper.
Minions style movie with all Anzellans. I'm there.
While I did enjoy the movie, it felt like they took the next season, stripped most of the characters out and turned it into a movie. I think the season 3 plot line of Mandalore would probably have made a better story for the big screen.
From the start, one of the things that threw me off was Rotta being kidnapped. This was already a plot line in the Clone Wars cartoon show. I thought “man this kid gets kidnapped a lot”. I was at least pleasantly surprised to see he was an adult and not a baby this time. I ended up enjoying the second half of the movie more than the first half.
Pretty sure that's exactly what happened. Took the season outline and tightened it up to 2 hours.
